Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 23, the US rotary rig count decreased by 19 to 916 rigs following a one-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by three to 162, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by 16 to 754. The overall rig count is now down by 128 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by three to 139 rigs in the week ending August 23, following a two-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 90 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
