Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending May 1, the US rotary rig count decreased by 57 to 408 rigs following a 64-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by four to 81, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by 53 to 325. The overall rig count is now down by 582 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by one to 27 rigs in the week ending May 1, following a four-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 34 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
