Baker Hughes has reported that for the shortened holiday week ending March 29 the US rotary rig count decreased by two to 993 rigs following a five-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by four to 194 while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by seven to 797. The overall rig count is now up by 169 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 27 to 134 rigs in the week ending March 29 following a 58-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 21 rigs from the same week a year ago.
