US rig count edges up while Canadian count edges down

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 31, the US rotary rig count increased by four to 1,048 rigs following a 13-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by two to 184 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by two to 862. The overall rig count is now up by 105 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by one to 228 rigs in the week ending August 31, following a 17-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 27 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
