Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending April 13, the US rotary rig count increased by five to 1,008 rigs following a 10-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by two to 192 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by seven to 815. The overall rig count is now up by 161 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by nine to 102 rigs in the week ending April 13, following a 23-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 16 rigs from the same week a year ago.
