US rig count edges up while Canadian count declines again week-on-week

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending February 15, the US rotary rig count increased by two to 1,051 rigs following a four-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by one to 194, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by three to 857. The overall rig count is now up by 76 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 16 to 224 rigs in the week ending February 15, following a three-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 94 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
