Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending January 24, the US rotary rig count decreased by two to 794 rigs following a 15-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by five to 115, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by three to 676. The overall rig count is now down by 265 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count remained level at 244 rigs in the week ending January 24, following a 41-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 12 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
