Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 30, the US rotary rig count decreased by 12 to 904 rigs following a 19-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas stayed level at 162, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by 12 to 742. The overall rig count is now down by 144 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 11 to 150 rigs in the week ending August 30, following a three-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 78 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
