US rig count drops again while Canadian count rises

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 2, the US rotary rig count decreased by four to 942 rigs following an eight-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by two to 171, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by six to 770. The overall rig count is still down by 102 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 10 to 137 rigs in the week ending August 2, following a nine-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 86 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
