Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 25 the US rotary rig count decreased by six to 940 rigs following a three-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by two to 180 while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by four to 759. The overall rig count is now up by 451 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by three to 217 rigs in the week ending August 25, following a six-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 71 rigs from the same week a year ago.
