US rig count drops again as Canadian count edges up

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending January 31, the US rotary rig count decreased by four to 790 rigs following a two-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by three to 112, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by one to 675. The overall rig count is now down by 255 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by three to 247 rigs in the week ending January 31, following a neutral trend the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by four rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
