Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending March 23 the US rotary rig count increased by five to 995 rigs following a six-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by one to 190 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by four to 804. The overall rig count is now up by 186 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 58 to 161 rigs in the week ending March 23 following a 54-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 24 rigs from the same week a year ago.
