Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 9, the US rotary rig count decreased by eight to 934 rigs following a four-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by two to 169, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by six to 764. The overall rig count is still down by 123 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by three to 140 rigs in the week ending August 9, following a 10-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 69 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
