According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of rebar totaled 83,989 mt in June 2019, down 37.8 percent from May but up 93.1 percent from June 2018 levels. By value, rebar imports totaled $42.3 million in June 2019, compared to $68.8 million in the previous month and $26.0 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most rebar from Spain in June, with 36,516 mt, compared to 39,021 mt in May and 1,012 mt in June 2018. Other top sources of imported rebar in June include Mexico, with 13,501 mt; Dominican Republic, with 11,244 mt; South Africa, with 10,063 mt; and Italy, with 7,216 mt.
