US rebar imports down 11.2 percent in February

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of rebar totaled 85,921 mt in February 2020, down 11.2 percent from January and down 11.1 percent from February 2019 levels. By value rebar imports totaled $39.3 million in February 2020, compared to $45.1 million in the previous month and $51.9 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most rebar from Turkey in February, with 62,397 mt, compared to 33,724 mt in January and 2,234 mt in February 2019. Other top sources of imported rebar in February include Mexico, with 17,129 mt; Dominican Republic, with 3,995 mt; and Canada, with 1,338 mt.
