US rebar exports up 37.2 percent in January

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of rebar totaled 11,483 mt in January 2020, up 37.2 percent from December and up 8.0 percent from January 2019 levels. By value, rebar exports totaled $7.8 million in January, compared to $5.9 million in the previous month and $7.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most rebar to Canada in January with 9,498 mt, compared to 6,855 mt in December and 8,075 mt in January 2019. Other top destinations included Dominican Republic, with 1,246 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US rebar exports in January.
