US rebar exports down 16.9 percent in April

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of rebar totaled 8,652 mt in April 2019, down 16.9 percent from March and down 67.2 percent from April 2018 levels. By value, rebar exports totaled $6.6 million in April, compared to $7.9 million in the previous month and $18.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most rebar to Canada in April with 4,468 mt, compared to 4,779 mt in March and 22,850 mt in April 2018. Other destinations include Dominican Republic, with 2,495 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US rebar exports in April.
