US raw steel production up 1.8 percent week-on-week

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on July 21, 2018, US domestic raw steel production was 1,815,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 77.4 percent.

Production for the week ending July 21, 2018 is up 1.8 percent from the previous week ending July 14, 2018 when production was 1,783,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 76.1 percent.

Production was 1,733,000 net tons in the week ending July 21, 2017 while the capability utilization then was 74.3 percent. The current week production represents a 4.7 percent increase from the same period in the previous year.

Adjusted year-to-date production through July 21, 2018 was 51,520,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 76.4 percent. That is up 3.0 percent from the 50,037,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 74.4 percent.
