According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on June 23, 2018, US domestic raw steel production was 1,772,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 75.6 percent.
Production for the week ending June 23, 2018 is up 1.8 percent from the previous week ending June 16, 2018 when production was 1,740,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 74.2 percent.
Production was 1,747,000 net tons in the week ending June 23, 2017 while the capability utilization then was 74.9 percent. The current week production represents a 1.4 percent increase from the same period in the previous year.
Adjusted year-to-date production through June 23, 2018 was 43,833,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 75.4 percent. That is up 1.7 percent from the 43,091,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 74.4 percent.
