US raw steel production up 1.4 percent week-on-week

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on October 26, 2019, US domestic raw steel production was 1,866,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 80.7 percent.

Production for the week ending October 26, 2019 is up 1.4 percent from the previous week ending October 19, 2019 when production was 1,841,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 79.6 percent.

Production was 1,877,000 net tons in the week ending October 26, 2018 while the capability utilization then was 80.1 percent. The current week production represents a 0.6 percent decrease from the same period in the previous year.

Adjusted year-to-date production through October 26, 2019 was 79,785,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 80.3 percent. That is up 2.7 percent from the 77,694,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 77.5 percent.
