According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on November 17, 2018, US domestic raw steel production was 1,924,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 82.1 percent.
Production for the week ending November 17, 2018 is up 0.5 percent from the previous week ending November 10, 2018 when production was 1,915,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 81.7 percent.
Production was 1,708,000 net tons in the week ending November 17, 2017 while the capability utilization then was 73.3 percent. The current week production represents a 12.6 percent increase from the same period in the previous year.
Adjusted year-to-date production through November 17, 2018 was 83,733,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 78.0 percent. That is up 5.5 percent from the 79,369,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 74.2 percent.
