According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on October 13, 2018, US domestic raw steel production was 1,881,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 80.2 percent.
Production for the week ending October 13, 2018 is up 1.6 percent from the previous week ending October 6, 2018 when production was 1,851,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 79.0 percent.
Production was 1,705,000 net tons in the week ending October 13, 2017 while the capability utilization then was 73.2 percent. The current week production represents a 10.3 percent increase from the same period in the previous year.
Adjusted year-to-date production through October 13, 2018 was 74,201,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 77.6 percent. That is up 4.8 percent from the 70,836,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 74.3 percent.
