US raw steel production up 0.8 percent week on week

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on February 17, 2018, US domestic raw steel production was 1,751,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 75.1 percent.

Production for the week ending February 17, 2018 is up 0.8 percent from the previous week ending February 10, 2018 when production was 1,737,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 74.5 percent.

Production was 1,770,000 net tons in the week ending February 17, 2017 while the capability utilization then was 75.9 percent. The current week production represents a 1.1 percent decrease from the same period in the previous year.

Adjusted year-to-date production through February 17, 2018 was 11,757,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 73.6 percent. This figure is down 1.9 percent from the 11,988,000 net tons produced during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 75.2 percent.
