US plates in coils exports rise 5.1 percent in May

US exports of plates in coils totaled 78,283 mt in May, up 5.1 percent from April and up 48.0 percent from May 2016 levels. By value, plates in coils exports totaled $37.9 million in May, compared to $35.7 million in the previous month and $23.4 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most plates in coils to Mexico in May with 25,680 mt, compared to 27,742 mt in April and 18,234 mt in May 2016. Other top destinations included Canada, with 22,017 mt. No other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) of US export plates in coils were recorded in May.
