According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of plates in coil totaled 37,870 mt in March 2020, up 4.6 percent from February and up 72.4 percent from March 2019 levels. By value, plates in coil exports totaled $31.3 million in March, compared to $30.2 million in the previous month and $20.6 million the same month last year.
The US shipped the most plates in coil to Mexico in March with 28,419 mt, compared to 23,813 mt in February and 17,392 mt in March 2019. Other top destinations included Canada, with 7,822 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US plates in coil exports in March.
