US plates in coil exports up 14.5 percent in April

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of plates in coil totaled 25,151 mt in April 2019, up 14.5 percent from March but down 15.1 percent from April 2018 levels. By value, plates in coil exports totaled $23.7 million in April, compared to $20.6 million in the previous month and $25.6 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most plates in coil to Mexico in April with 20,110 mt, compared to 17,392 mt in March and 16,132 mt in April 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 3,930 mt. There were no other major destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US plates in coil exports in April.
