US plates in coil exports down 28.1 percent in September

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of plates in coil totaled 17,743 mt in September 2018, down 28.1 percent from August and down 57.2 percent from September 2017 levels. By value, plates in coil exports totaled $16.7 million in September, compared to $23.6 million in the previous month and $32.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most plates in coil to Mexico in September with 13,172 mt, compared to 17,829 mt in August and 25,513 mt in September 2017. Other top destinations included Canada, with 3,930 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US plates in coil exports in September.
