According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of plates in coil totaled 21,969 mt in March 2019, down 19.6 percent from February and down 38.9 percent from March 2018 levels. By value, plates in coil exports totaled $20.6 million in March, compared to $22.3 million in the previous month and $29.7 million the same month last year.
The US shipped the most plates in coil to Mexico in March with 17,392 mt, compared to 22,914 mt in February and 22,350 mt in March 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 3,284 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US plates in coil exports in March.
