US OCTG imports up 7.8 percent in July

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 195,167 mt in July 2018, up 7.8 percent from June but down 42.6 percent from July 2017 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $221.4 million in July 2018, compared to $205.8 million in the previous month and $320.7 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Mexico in July, with 39,078 mt, compared to 17,798 mt in June and 36,783 mt in July 2017. Other top sources of imported OCTG in July include Russia, with 27,287 mt; Austria, with 18,582 mt; Argentina, with 14,502 mt; Philippines, with 14,004 mt; and Taiwan, with 13,994 mt.
