US OCTG imports up 7.8 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 296,871 mt in April 2018, up 7.8 percent from March but down 6.5 percent from April 2017 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $396.9 million in April 2018, compared to $308.5 million in the previous month and $280.5 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in April, with 95,000 mt, compared to 73,169 mt in March and 119,459 mt in April 2017. Other top sources of imported OCTG in April include Canada, with 30,719 mt; Mexico, with 27,974 mt; Brazil, with 16,176 mt; Spain, with 15,054 mt; and Austria, with 13,419 mt.
