According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 142,068 mt in May 2020, up 71.3 percent from April but down 27.8 percent from May 2019 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $124.6 million in May 2020, compared to $85.8 million in the previous month and $210.7 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in May, with 48,553 mt, compared to 8,841 mt in April and 44,352 mt in May 2019. Other top sources of imported OCTG in May include Taiwan, with 26,381 mt; Thailand, with 13,360 mt; Mexico, with 12,710 mt; and Austria, with 8,350 mt.
