US OCTG imports up 27.2 percent in March

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 275,030 mt in March 2018, up 27.2 percent from February and up 15.2 percent from March 2017 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $308.2 million in March 2018, compared to $237.7 million in the previous month and $216.9 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in March, with 73,169 mt, compared to 77,448 mt in February and 87,489 mt in March 2017. Other top sources of imported OCTG in March include Mexico, with 34,732 mt; Brazil, with 27,467 mt; Canada, with 27,357 mt; Argentina, with 17,751 mt; and Austria, with 14,909 mt.
