US OCTG imports up 2.7 percent in July

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 182,817 mt in July 2019, up 2.7 percent from June but down 6.3 percent from July 2018 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $203.1 million in July 2019, compared to $196.4 million in the previous month and $221.4 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Mexico in July, with 20,644 mt, compared to 11,675 mt in June and 39,118 mt in July 2018. Other top sources of imported OCTG in July include Russia, with 19,591 mt; Taiwan, with 19,117 mt; Korea, with 17,151 mt; and Ukraine, with 13,513 mt.
