US OCTG imports up 24.9 percent in March

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 218,410 mt in March 2019, up 24.9 percent from February but down 20.7 percent from March 2018 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $233.9 million in March 2018, compared to $190.4 million in the previous month and $308.5 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in March, with 41,631 mt, compared to 15,799 mt in February and 73,169 mt in March 2018. Other top sources of imported OCTG in March include Russia, with 32,539 mt; Austria, with 25,008 mt; Taiwan, with 17,524 mt; Ukraine, with 16,712 mt; and Argentina, with 15,709 mt.
