US OCTG imports up 12.5 percent in July

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 336,851 mt in July 2017, up 12.5 percent from June but up 281.7 percent from July 2016 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $323.4 million in July 2017, compared to $265.4 million in the previous month and $75.8 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in July, with 98,894 mt, compared to 101,220 mt in June and 23,943 mt in July 2016. Other top sources of imported OCTG in July include Mexico, with 36,783 mt; Brazil, with 23,390 mt; Argentina, with 22,868 mt; Canada, with 19,440 mt; and Russia, with 17,695 mt.
