US OCTG imports rise 30 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 310,468 mt in April 2017, up 30.0 percent from March and up 551.1 percent from April 2016 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $273.1 million in April 2017, compared to $216.9 million in the previous month and $46.3 million in the same month last year.
 
The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in April, with 118,982 mt, compared to 87,489 mt in March and 18,981 mt in April 2016. Other top sources of imported OCTG in April include Mexico, with 51,212 mt; Russia, with 35,025 mt; Canada, with 20,501 mt; Argentina, with 15,992 mt; and Austria, with 13,635 mt.
