US OCTG imports down 41.7 percent in February

According to delayed final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 174,806 mt in February 2019, down 41.7 percent from January and down 19.2 percent from February 2018 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $190.4 million in February 2018, compared to $343.0 million in the previous month and $237.7 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Taiwan in February, with 22,516 mt, compared to 24,772 mt in January and 7,458 mt in February 2018. Other top sources of imported OCTG in February include Philippines, with 19,712 mt; Korea, with 15,799 mt; Italy, with 14,612 mt; Mexico, with 13,713 mt; and Saudi Arabia, with 12,389 mt.
