US OCTG imports down 3.4 percent in January

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 63,909 mt in January 2023, down 3.4 percent from December but up 78.1 percent from January 2022 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $586.8 million in January 2023, compared to $595.3 million in December and $248.8 million in January 2022.

The US imported the most OCTG from Taiwan in January, with 38,336 mt, compared to 30,169 mt in December and 7,431 mt in January 2022. Other top sources of imported OCTG in January include South Korea, with 35,638 mt; Canada, with 28,887 mt; Mexico, with 27,779 mt; and Italy, with 26,398 mt.
