US OCTG imports down 28.8 percent in August

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 241,936 mt in August 2017, down 28.8 percent from July but up 217.4 percent from August 2016 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $239.5 million in August 2017, compared to $320.7 million in the previous month and $78.4 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in August, with 97,239 mt, compared to 99,613 mt in July and 14,869 mt in August 2016. Other top sources of imported OCTG in August include Mexico, with 21,692 mt; Argentina, with 20,271 mt; Brazil, with 18,959 mt; Canada, with 11,778 mt; and Japan, with 9,643 mt.
