US OCTG imports down 26.8 percent in September

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 142,629 mt in September 2018, down 26.8 percent from August and down 54.0 percent from September 2017 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $164.0 million in September 2018, compared to $233.7 million in the previous month and $318.4 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Mexico in September, with 30,339 mt, compared to 54,250 mt in August and 37,714 mt in September 2017. Other top sources of imported OCTG in September include Russia, with 24,121 mt; Taiwan, with 16,979 mt; Austria, with 11,383 mt; Argentina, with 10,262 mt; and Thailand, with 6,076 mt.
