US OCTG imports down 24.8 percent in June

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 179,409 mt in June 2018, down 24.8 percent from May and down 40.1 percent from June 2017 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $203.9 million in June 2018, compared to $294.1 million in the previous month and $265.4 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in June, with 47,470 mt, compared to 19,756 mt in May and 101,220 mt in June 2017. Other top sources of imported OCTG in June include Austria, with 24,559 mt; Russia, with 19,282 mt; Mexico, with 17,454 mt; Taiwan, with 14,448 mt; and Canada, with 10,511 mt.
