US OCTG imports down 2.1 percent in August

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 191,196 mt in August 2018, down 2.1 percent from July and down 21.3 percent from August 2017 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $229.4 million in August 2018, compared to $221.4 million in the previous month and $240.3 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Mexico in August, with 53,441 mt, compared to 39,118 mt in July and 21,692 mt in August 2017. Other top sources of imported OCTG in August include Russia, with 30,108 mt; Taiwan, with 18,542 mt; Austria, with 17,112 mt; Argentina, with 16,065 mt; and Saudi Arabia, with 15,239 mt.
