US OCTG imports down 20.5 percent in May

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 238,242 mt in May 2018, down 20.5 percent from April and down 2.9 percent from May 2017 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $293.4 million in May 2018, compared to $329.9 million in the previous month and $217.8 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Mexico in May, with 47,697 mt, compared to 27,974 mt in April and 33,003 mt in May 2017. Other top sources of imported OCTG in May include Russia, with 28,985 mt; Canada, with 28,335 mt; Korea, with 19,756 mt; Austria, with 17,655 mt; and Ukraine, with 17,582 mt.
