US OCTG imports down 19 percent in October

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 107,631 mt in October 2019, down 19.0 percent from September and down 31.7 percent from October 2018 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $114.3 million in October 2019, compared to $146.8 million in the previous month and $176.7 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in October, with 19,880 mt, compared to 21,653 mt in September and zero tonnage in October 2018. Other top sources of imported OCTG in October include Taiwan, with 16,614 mt; Mexico, with 16,610 mt; Brazil, with 11,141 mt; and Argentina, with 10,122 mt.
