US OCTG imports down 14.1 percent in May

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 196,650 mt in May 2019, down 14.1 percent from April and down 17.6 percent from May 2018 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $210.7 million in May 2019, compared to $235.7 million in the previous month and $294.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in May, with 44,352 mt, compared to 54,186 mt in April and 19,756 mt in May 2018. Other top sources of imported OCTG in May include Russia, with 26,243 mt; Mexico, with 26,058 mt; Taiwan, with 13,340 mt; and Austria, with 11,894 mt.
