US OCTG imports down 10.7 percent in August

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 163,323 mt in August 2019, down 10.7 percent from July and down 16.2 percent from August 2018 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $174.4 million in August 2019, compared to $203.1 million in the previous month and $233.7 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in August, with 42,337 mt, compared to 17,151 mt in July and 1,959 mt in August 2018. Other top sources of imported OCTG in August include Taiwan, with 14,177 mt; Canada, with 13,619 mt; Austria, with 12,401 mt; and Argentina, with 11,899 mt.
