According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 27,724 mt in January 2018, up 28.1 percent from December and up 37.8 percent from January 2017 levels. By value, OCTG exports totaled $43.5 million in January, compared to $52.2 million in the previous month and $35.9 million the same month last year.
The US shipped the most OCTG to Canada in January with 21,307 mt, compared to 15,198 mt in December and 16,463 mt in January 2017. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 2,218 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US OCTG exports in January.
