US OCTG exports down 1.3 percent in December

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 15,177 mt in December 2018, down 1.3 percent from November and down 29.9 percent from December 2017 levels. By value, OCTG exports totaled $34.4 million in December, compared to $26.3 million in the previous month and $52.2 million in December 2017.

The US shipped the most OCTG to Canada in December with 8,770 mt, compared to 10,865 mt in November and 15,198 mt in December 2017. Other top destinations included United Kingdom, with 1,118 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US OCTG exports in December.

As for the full-year 2018, US OCTG exports totaled 254,327 mt, down 24.4 percent from 2017 totals. By value, OCTG exports totaled $494.5 million in 2018, compared to $664.2 million in 2017.
