US new house sales rise 0.8 percent in June

The US Census Bureau and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development jointly announced that sales of new single-family houses in June 2017 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 610,000.  This is 0.8 percent (±12.1 percent) above the revised May rate of 605,000 and is 9.1 percent (±14.4 percent) above the June 2016 estimate of 559,000.

The median sales price of new houses sold in June 2017 was $310,800.  The average sales price was $379,500. 

The seasonally-adjusted estimate of new houses for sale at the end of June was 272,000.  This represents a supply of 5.4 months at the current sales rate.
