US sales of new single‐family houses in July 2019 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 635,000, according to estimates released jointly today by the US Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. This is 12.8 percent (±16.2 percent) below the revised June rate of 728,000, but is 4.3 percent (±14.0 percent) above the July 2018 estimate of 609,000.
The median sales price of new houses sold in July 2019 was $312,800. The average sales price was $388,000.
The seasonally‐adjusted estimate of new houses for sale at the end of July was 337,000. This represents a supply of 6.4 months at the current sales rate.
